Protecting children. Respecting privacy.
Our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation apply to every use of mknoon.
1. Age and contact invitations
mknoon is a private messaging app developed by Saleh Elsayed and intended for adults aged 18 and older. People add contacts through QR code invitations. Use of mknoon by anyone under 18 is not permitted.
For these standards, a child is anyone under 18. If you believe a child is using mknoon or is at risk through its use, please contact us.
2. Prohibited conduct
mknoon prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This includes:
- Creating, requesting, possessing for distribution, uploading, or sharing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including sexual depictions of children.
- Grooming, sexual solicitation, or sexual exploitation of a child.
- Sexual extortion, trafficking, or attempts to arrange the sexual abuse of a child.
- Promoting, facilitating, or encouraging any of these activities.
3. Reporting a concern
Send child safety concerns to saleh.m.elsayed@proton.me. Use the subject “mknoon child safety report” and describe the concern, when it happened, and any relevant identifiers already available to you.
Do not attach, download, or forward suspected child sexual abuse material to make a report. Do not send private keys or recovery phrases. We may request further information through an appropriate lawful process.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or the appropriate child protection authority.
4. How we respond
We review child safety reports and take appropriate action under these standards and applicable law. When we become aware of CSAM connected with mknoon, this includes removing material from services we control where possible, addressing abusive use within our technical capabilities, and reporting to the appropriate regional or national authorities as legally required.
We comply with applicable child safety laws and cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities. Information received in a report is handled for investigation, safety, and applicable legal obligations.
5. Privacy and reports
mknoon uses end-to-end encryption for private conversations. The developer cannot read those conversations. Our safety response relies on information brought to our attention and actions available on services we control; these standards do not claim that we scan or decrypt private messages.
See our Privacy Policy for information about how the app handles data.
6. Safety contact
Saleh Elsayed is the designated point of contact for mknoon's child safety standards and reporting practices.
These standards will be updated on this page when they change.
